Welcome to our Internet Survey Research Site!
A Survey of Canada to U.S. Migration
You must be 18 years of age or older to participate in this study.

Purpose. You are invited to participate in our study, A Survey of Canada to U.S. Migration. The purpose of this research is to study how often Canadians come to the U.S. either as visitors, workers or students. We are also interested in whether you plan to migrate in the next year and what the barriers to immigration might be.  This research is important because Canada is the largest trading partner for the U.S.  It is also the single biggest source of visitors and temporary workers.

Your participation.  We welcome anyone 18 years or older who speaks English and is a Canadian citizen.

Your rights. Your decision to participate in this study is entirely voluntary. This means you may decide at any time to withdraw. Your decision to participate or to withdraw will not affect any relationship you may have with the University of Alberta. If you do not wish to submit your responses, simply click the browser page closed. Should you wish to withdraw your responses after submitting them, e-mail Dr. W. Andrew Harrell (aharrell@ualberta.ca) with the approximate time and date that you submitted them, and he will remove your responses.

Anonymity and Confidentiality. Your responses will be anonymous. Your name will not appear on the questionnaire or be associated with your responses in any way. Only Dr. Harrell and his research associates will have access to your responses. You may obtain a summary of results by e-mailing Dr. Harrell (aharrrell@ualberta.ca). The results of this study may be presented at scientific conferences or published in scientific journals. No individual results will be released; only grouped (aggregated) data will be presented. The data will be safely stored by Dr. Harrell for at least seven years.

Benefits and risks. A personal benefit of completing the questionnaire is that it may stimulate your thinking about the migration between the U.S. and Canada. This research will contribute to our understanding of migration and the factors that may impact it.There is no known risk to you as a participant. You do not have to answer any questions, especially those you believe may make you uncomfortable, unsettled or upset.
